Easy mode is to Death By Degrees as what Easy mode was to Rygar - a mode to let you build up your character before challenging the harder modes.

You will want to unlock Easy (Beginner) difficulty by dying three times in the new game though. The following items, modes, and other crap are unlocked by completing the game once: Beginner / Expert Difficulties You can unlock the other difficulties after you beat the game once. You also unlock seven "infinite" weapons throughout the game, and they make the game much more playable than before (with Nina stroking her infinite firearms furiously). This saves your unlocked goodies and other inheritence. To simalcrum's knowledge, only one version of Death By Degrees was released. The M-code for Death By Degrees doesn't work on Codebreaker 7x/8x (simalcrum has both version 7 and version 8). Gameshark doesn't have codes for Death by Degrees.

Unlike the rip- off Codebreaker (by Pelican), or the sometimes glitchy (but still reliable) Gameshark 2 (now owned by Mad Catz), the Action Replay MAX is pretty damn reliable on the Playstation 2 1000/3000 series (the oldest of the 'boxy' models). These things are only made by the British firm Codejunkies (but they have different versions for different region software). Simalcrum will suggest the ultimate (cheap) solution for die-hard Playstation 2 owners, in the form of a $10 Action Replay MAX (the 13 character code one). Stick interaction is fine for games on something like the Wii, but not for a game designed to be something like God Hand (this game plays worse than God Hand). Twice - once in the head and once in the gonads, just to make sure that their seeds of stupidity can never be passed onto the next generation.

Whoever decided to jerk around with a stick as action and principal fighting system should be dragged out into the street and shot.
